Its origins are purely secular.However, most Christians argue that there is nothing in the Bible that speaks for or against any particular economic system since the Bible is not an economics manifesto. A minority disagrees and holds that Jesus espoused something that parallels a welfare state, which means that capitalism, if implemented, would need a strong welfare-state component.
