Best Answer

your stove pilot is burning off fumes in the air from paint or varnish.

Normal when you have painted or used solvents in the area as the fumes stay airborne and burn off when they reach the pilot or burner flames.

should go away once the source dries.

Check to see if the adapter is on tightly, and no gas is leaking out. Also, gas may begin smelling bad or strong just before the tank goes empty.
