Because he was a painter and liked bright colors. So did, and do, many other painters. Don't ask them WHY!
They stand out in front of other colours and to look more affective

Uhh,Why NOT ask why?? It's a way of trying to understand things. Not all painters use the colors they do just because they like colors. For some artists, the colors have a special meaning. I think Warhol tried to use some contrast between his subject matter and the colors he used on them. For instance, he did a silkscreen called "Electric Chair" in which the colors were red, blue, bright yellow, and even pink. When you think of electric chairs you don't think of pink, or any kind of brightness. I think a big reason for why he used bright colors is because he meant for the colors to have a bigger purpose than he just liked bright colors. All his artworks come under the heading of Pop Art.
The pop art movement started a cultural change in the 1950's. It was predominant in areas like advertising, cultural objects and comic books. Pop art relied heavily on the use of vivid colors such as red, yellow and blue.
In Surrealism Art they used : Oils on canvas, and water colours. In Surrealism Art they make small brush strokes for detail, when you look closely to this type of art it looks messy. But when you step back your eyes adjust so you can see what the artist has painted.
Henri Matisse was had a unique painting style all his own. He liked to use bright and dark colours. And he used his wife as a model for many of his paintings. His subjects were largely domestic or figurative. It was called Fauvism.
1964 Pop Art mainly originated in England and America and then slowly made its way across the rest of the world. Pop Art begun in the late 1950s, Pop Art in America was given its greatest impetus during the 1960s. By this time, American advertising had adopted many elements and inflections of modern art and functioned at a very sophisticated level.
to make them stand out
you should use bold flat colours to paint pop art
use crazy colours which dont match, and big bold colours and not blended in any way.
the reason for that is because, they like all their features of art to stand out
Bright, bold, flat colours, so they look eye catching.

They use colourful and bright colours!
Use bright acrylic or oil paints in several colors (2 or more). Pop-culture images are commonly used. Large canvases (or other grounds) work best.

Pop art never really "finished." It is still a popular form of art that many artists use and love.
