For the money and the slave labor; the same reason everyone else participated in the slave trade.
Slave trade was when people would buy slaves and have them work on their lands.
By 1770 the demand for slaves decreased; Britain could get cheaper sugar from other places, such as Brazil and Cuba. This supports economic arguments to how the slave trade was abolished. If Britain got their produce cheaper, without having to pay for voyages to Africa and the West Indies then why did they need slaves at all?

The vast majority of slaves imported in the slave trade went to European colonies in the Americas, particularly in regions such as the Caribbean and Brazil. These slaves were used for labor on plantations producing crops like sugar, coffee, and tobacco.
The Slave Trade Act of 1807 banned the transatlantic slave trade, but not slavery itself. Many British slave traders simply redirected their operations to other regions and continued to profit from the illegal trade. Additionally, other countries continued to participate in the slave trade, further undermining the effectiveness of the Act in fully abolishing slavery.
