Why did Edward Cullen dump Bella for ebany Cullen?

Once he knew that he loved her he didn't want to hurt her even more and was afraid of everyone else hurting her being around her was a threat to her life. He knew that the Volturi would want to kill her because she knew too much. Victoria wanted to kill her because Edward killed her boyfriend James for her. One of the Denali girls wanted to kill her because Jacob killed Lauren for her. And some blood thirsty vampires could come along at any moment or even a controlled vampire would want to kill her. He didn't want her to become a vampire either because he thought it made you a vampire.

Jasper, who is the newest vegetarian, cannot resist even the smallest flow of blood and attempts to attack Bella, forcing Edward to push her out of the way and causing her to fall into the broken crystal that had been used to decorate her party.

Edward doesn't want to hurt Bella anymore and believes that because he is a vampire, Bella will always be in a situation where she will get hurt.
