∙ 13y agoGideon leaves Criminal because in the Evolution of Frank (Part 2), his archenemy, Frank kills his girlfriend and begins killing every single person he has ever saved by pretending to be Gideon. Frank dies before he finishes (he jumps in front of a train with Jane instead of being caught and put in prison), but Gideon blames himself for it and leaves the BAU. Then, David Rossi (the creator of the BAU) comes and takes his place.

∙ 14y agoHe left towards the beginning of season 3, the death of his friend in season 2 and the repercussions of Hotch's suspensions all took a toll on him so he wrote Dr. Reid a letter and departed to an unknown location 'that when he got there he would know," he was last seen pulling out of a diner and riding away in his car.

∙ 12y agoMandy patinkin played gideons character on the show. In his last episode he was barely seen in. I believe this is because in all the other episodes he had to be rough with the criminals in the show. I've heard that he had said that his character was to violent for him to pretend or to bring himself to play the role of. That, and he had some personal reasons but never really talk about. In his last episode Matthew Gray Gubler who plays Dr. Spencer Ried had called him but he had not answered when Ried had gone to his cabin he seen gideon's bage and gun laying on the table with a note. watch the show!! my favorite character is Spencer ried.
