In 1741, Handel was invited by the Duke of Devonshire to go to Dublin, Ireland and direct a performance of one of his works for charity.
About six weeks before this time, Handel's librettist, Charles Jennens, gave him a scripture libretto on the topic of the Messiah, and requested him to set it to music.
After the Duke's invitation, Handel decided he would compose music to this libretto for the Dublin charity performance.
What Handel did, was he wrote a musical composition, of the Book of Esther. especially since he was a Christian composer & writer.
It was created for Prince Augustus for when he returned from war.
I'm not too sure but I think ti was of his love and determination of music that led him to compose.
