The Japaness expanded to secure raw matetials for its nation, so it practiced a commin part of the colonisation process, and that is to kill off local populations. As well, the Japeness beleived surrender to be shameful, so often the japeness exicuted prisoners to (in the Japanese mind) allow for redemption.
