MArley was allowed to return to do a good deed and warn Scrooge that he(scrooge) was making teh same mistakes as Marley and the out come would be worse as Marley points out he (Marley) will walk the earth for all eternity in torment for not making mankind his business
Marley visited Scrooge to warn him about his current behavior and the consequences he will face if he continues on his path of greed and selfishness. Marley hoped to change Scrooge's ways and prevent him from meeting the same fate of being burdened by chains in the afterlife.
Marley was allowed back to warn Scrooge of his impending death and the everlasting torment that would befall him should he not change his ways. Marley employs the help of three further spirits to help change Scrooges mind and ways
