She only a few, but in eating them it tied her to the Underworld, forcing her to return for half of the year.

Persephone ate the pomegranate seeds because she was tricked by Hades into consuming them while in the Underworld. This act tied her to the Underworld, requiring her to spend part of each year there, which explains the changing seasons in Greek mythology – when Persephone is in the Underworld, winter arrives.
