Why did Shakespeare leave his home town?
William Shakespeare left home and headed towards England so that he could follow his dream in play writing.
William Shakespeare was born in the town Stratford-upon-Avon and remained until 1585. At this time Shakespeare moved to London to work, and later retired back to Stratford-upon-Avon until his death. There was speculation at the time that Shakespeare moved because he was caught poaching deer, but there was never any evidence to support it.
