When Albert's mother that is Countess tells the whole story to Albert about his father's villainous past and his father appalling crime against the count of Monte Cristo,Albert's eyes are opened and he realizes that his father did wrong and the Count of Monte Cristo was right,so then he apologises to the Count of Monte Cristo and refuses to fight a duel with him.
