How do you pronounce porphyria?

Porphyria (Poor-fear-E-ah) Porphyria is not a single disease but a group of at least eight disorders that differ considerably from each other. A common feature in all porphyrias is the accumulation in the body of "porphyrins" or "porphyrin precursors." Although these are normal body chemicals, they normally do not accumulate. Precisely which of these chemicals builds up depends upon the type of porphyria.

What is porphyria?

Porphyria is a metabolic disorder and is genetic. It is one of the acute porphyrias and cutaneous porphyria are also found within this condition. The gene mutation R59W carried within my family; the common defect responsible for Variegate Porphyria in South Africa, results in a faulty enzyme (protoporphyrinogen oxidase PPOX) that cannot handle the normal metabolism of porphyrins, which results in overproduction in the blood and urine.

What is the theme of porphyria's lover?

there are many themes. Love could be one theme. Love can make you do crazy things and the speaker doesn't want the moment to last; therefore, he kills her. Another theme could be madness because he is insane for doing what he did.

Are there real vampires living among us?

It is said vampires exist but some say it is all false, they is a disease called vampire disease, the proper name for it is Porphyrias. Porphyrias are a group of inherited or acquired disorders of certain enzymes in the heme bio-synthetic pathway (also called porphyrin pathway). They are broadly classified as acute (hepatic) porphyrias and cutaneous (erythropoietic) porphyrias, based on the site of the overproduction and accumulation of the porphyrins (or their chemical precursors). They manifest with either neurological complications or skin problems (or occasionally both). A clinically induced and histologically identical condition is called pseudoporphyria. Pseudoporphyria is characterized by normal serum and urine porphyrin levels.
