The British government believed that actions of Great Britain to protect the colonists, such as helping pay for the French& Indian War were fair and taxes to do this corectly helped reimburse the British Crown's expenditures. Despite the defeat of France in that particular war, France as a major world power was not going to "disappear". Thus building up the British treasury coffers was a good, solid move and raising taxes did this.

Now it seems that just by using the Mercantile economic system, the colonies would already be sending enough funds back to the home country. With that said, money can equate to power and dependence. So it would be for the self interest of Great Britain and her colonies, to have a wealthy central government, done so by raising taxes was a good policy.

How did the british use the colonists to raise revenue and how did that anger them?

The British government imposed various taxes on the American colonists, such as the Stamp Act and the Townshend Acts, to raise revenue to pay off debt from the French and Indian War and to fund British military presence in North America. These taxes were levied without colonial representation in Parliament, leading to widespread resentment and the rallying cry of "no taxation without representation." Colonists felt exploited and believed their rights as English subjects were being violated, which fueled anger and resistance, eventually contributing to the Revolutionary War.

Why did the colonists oppose the intolerable act?

The Intolerable Acts made the American colonists so angry because of the Stamp Act, the Tea Act, and taxes. The British would make their own materials with stamps that on it that approves that it is from the British(they could only buy items from the British). Then the Tea Act in1773. The law allowed British merchants to sell tea in the colonies for less money than anyone else. Many colonists saw this as an attempt by the British government to force other tea merchants out of busness. Once the other tea sellers were shut down, the British would raise the prices on their own tea. To the colonists, this was unacceptable. The British government put tax on everything!

Why did the british government believe it was necessary to raise taxes on the colonists?
