Because the Treaty of Versailles stated that Germany must pay a large amount of money (war reparations) towards the Allies after the WW1.

For many reasons, Germany could not afford these payments, their economy, industry, and basically the whole country would just collapse if they were to continue to pay.

The French and Belgians, being the main 'victims' in the war, were outraged, did not listen to the excuses, and invaded the Ruhr Valley in Germany.

The Ruhr was Germany's main industrial area and thus - their main supply of wealth.

This basically meant that the French and Belgians could get the money that Germany could not afford to pay them.

Is the Ruhr a part of the Rhineland?

yes

1920 how did the Invasion of the Ruhr help increase Hitlers rise to power?

The invasion of the Ruhr helped increase Hitler's rise to power because he was able to manipulate the situation in his favour, to suggest that he could prevent the problem and seek revenge on France for their cruel treatment of the German people. In the time of crisis, with hyperinflation and a lack of produce from the Ruhr after the ban, people wanted someone to help them overcome the situation. This is why many turned to Hitler, therefore causing him to rise further to power.

Why did the rhineland become a focus of German national concerns after the war?

Germany was regaining control of emerging industrial centers, which were located in the Rhineland, the Saar, and the Ruhr valleys.

What was the occupation of the Ruhr in World War 1?

Because Germany was broke after (well before and during, too) the war, they were having a hard time paying all of the reparations. France felt that this was unacceptable. So France moved into the German own territory of the Ruhr, which was a large part of what had been left of the German economy as far as income for the state. France seized all control of business and raw materials left in the Ruhr area, collecting the revenue from whatever was useful there. It could have been a league of nations dictation to move into the Ruhr, as in the case of Saarland where the France were allotted all revenue from the coal mining in that area, but I'm not sure if that is the case. Anyway, when Germany starting investing in American bonds (Dawes Plan) and were able to start paying their war debt, France gave the area back to Germany. I just wrote a paper on post- WW1 Germany/ The Weimar Republic.

How did the Treaty of Versailles punish Germany for its role in World War 1?

Germany was forced to pay an indemnity to the Allies (mostly France) to offset the costs of the war, this resulted in the German government going bankrupt. In addition Germany was forbidden from having military forces. Also regions of Germany such as the Ruhr valley were occupied by French troops. It forced Germany to pay certain dividends for 'starting the war', made Germany accept blame for the start of WWI, and limited the size of their army, navy, and air arm.

What did Gustav stresemann do when the french occupied the ruhr?

When Gustav Stresemann became Chancellor of Germany in 1923 the French were already occupying the Ruhr and the hyperinflation crisis had taken hold of Germany. The French occupation meant that Germany struggled to make money from industry and they had to pay the striking workers in the Ruhr who were carrying out passive resistance. The German economy didn't have enough money coming in from taxes so they printed more and more money caused prices to spiral out of control due to hyperinflation. The German currency was worthless. The money was worthless so when Stresemann became Chancellor he issued a new currency: the Rentenmark. Later, Stresemann called off the passive resistance in the Ruhr and as a result the French left.

Did the invasion of ruhr succedd?

The French invaded the Ruhr in 1923, this was because The German's could not afford reperations (a clause of the Treaty of Versailles) so the French decided to take what was owed to them in the form of raw materials and goods. In responce to this, the government called a general strike forcing all workers off the land, no workers meant the French couldn't get hold of the raw materials. As a result of this the French did not suceed. However, it also caused economic disaster in Germany because they were not making money from the materials either. Hope this helps x

Why did France occupy Germany's Ruhr Valley in 1923?

France occupied Germany's Ruhr Valley in 1923, partly for the economic goods of coal, iron, and steel production, and partly to ensure reparations were paid in goods. The German mark was worthless, and Chancellor Wilhelm Cuno had failed to pay reparations after World War I.
