The Aztecs went to war to defend their tribe, to not be overruled. They wanted to stay who they were not to have to be following rules of somebody else. Because, who knows, they might not have been able to keep speaking their language if they were overruled.

It is believed a civil war or another such conflict resulted in several factions from the original Aztecs to split and become the Mexica. Hence the name of their city: Mexico-Tenochtitlan.

The catholics came to Mexico and helped the Mayans defeat the Aztecs. Many Mayans became catholics and devoted their lives to the new civilization of the spaniards.
