The Soviet system was based on socialism, and specifically communism, as the highest social order possible. Capitalism as the anithesis of this order was then considered base at best, evil at worst.

To 'save' people from such a system, it was felt that socialism, to the point of communism, must be introduced to the rest of the world. If this could be done by subversion or convincing argument then so much the better; if, as actually happened, force was necessary to free a country from 'oppressive' leaders then that was what they did.

Itis a basic tenant of Communism to convert andconquer.

Answer 2
In short, communists want to spread communism because they believed they would be freeing people from oppression by doing so.

The basic tenant of communism is that capitalism is a means of oppressing the mass of the working people. The system of countries and their governments was part of this system of oppression. The people could only be freed by destroying all current governments.

This was not specifically after the Second World War. The Russian Revolutionaries did not recognise any other government, in their opinion they all needed overthrowing, the Russian Imperial Government was just the first. Countries and borders were capitalist ways of dividing the spoils and nothing to do with the needs of the world-wide working class.

On practice this theory got warped when Stalin took power, The USSR became a country which claimed to be striving for communism, but was in fact a one-man Dictatorship. It supported communism in other countries, but only those movements which accepted the "Leading role of the USSR". Independent communist movements were not supported.
