The Titanic hit the iceberg because the crew didn't spot it soon enough to take evasive action. Additionally, the ship was too large and moving too fast for it to safely turn in time to avoid the collision. The incident also occurred at night, making it harder to see icebergs in the ship's path.

The Titanic sank because the ship sped up to reach New York in record time and because the captain didn't listen to numerous warnings about icebergs from other nearby ships. It was a very calm and clear night, which made it hard to see icebergs. By the time one was spotted straight ahead it was too late.
Because the ship was going too fast and the ship's rudder was too small to make a huge turn right away. Had the ship been going a little slower, she probably would've successfully made it around the iceberg
They tried to, but it wasn't seen in time since the crew in the lookout post were missing binoculars and the fact that the waters were so calm made it even harder to detect icebergs for there wouldn't have been any breaking water at the base. They tried to go around it, but the ship was moving too fast

Because the Titanic hit the iceberg...Current news indicates that the helmsman didn't know his starboard from his port and turned into it.
