The Berlin wall was taken down because the people of east Germany wanted freedom from communist Russia's rule, and along with that Pres. Ragan gave a speech inforcing the govermant to take the wall down and evntualy the people decided that enough is enough and they tore down the wall and the east Germans lived with the west Germans and under a free marcket economy .
