However it is a non-issue, as Jesus Christ is present, entire - body and soul, humanity and divinity, under either species: the bread or the wine, and so in consuming species, one eats the "body and blood" of the Lord. In different periods of history, and even now, for various reasons, the cup may not be proferred to all for various reasons: there might be a flu epidemic, there might be huge numbers of people coming to receive Holy Communion, whatever.
