Most everyday objects are too cold to emit their own visible light. They have color because they reflect specific wavelengths of light - red in the case of many apples, yellow in the case of a pear, etc. There's a Magic School Bus episode on this, you should watch it.

∙ 7y agoA 'red' apple does not emit red light. Rather, it simply absorbs all the frequencies of visible light shining on it except for a group of frequencies that is perceived as red, which are reflected. This is wrong an apple looks red to us because it reflects infrared waves.
