In this case, "27 to 31 days" doesn't mean a wishy washy, inexact number.

Since the sun isn't solid, there's no reason that all of it has to rotate at the same rate,

and in fact it doesn't. Different "latitudes" on the sun rotate at different rates. One belt

rotates every 27 days, another belt rotates every 31 days, and there are other belts

in between those that rotate at every rate in between 27 and 31 days. So there isn't

a single "exact number" for the sun, as there is for every solid body including the earth.

For any rate you want to name between 27 and 31 days, there's a part of the sun that

rotates exactly once in that period of time.

Why do astronomers say the sun rotates every 27 to 31 days rather than give an exact number?

The sun is not a solid object and different parts of it rotate at different speeds.

Why was Virgo put in the sky?

It is more accurate to say that the constellation Virgo was imagined in the sky, rather than that it was put there. Early astronomers or astrologers were trying to make sense out of the rather large number of stars in the sky.

What planet revolves around the sun while rotation on its side?

Uranus rotates in its horizontal axis rather than on its vertical one, like the other planets in the solar system. Astronomers believe that an Earth-sized object collided with the planet in the distant plans and knocked it onto its side.

Why do astronomers say on the sky rather than in the sky?

I've never heard anybody use the phrase "on the sky" in any context.

Some astronomers suggest that rather than being a planet Pluto is really just a large member of what?

the kuiper belt

What location does NOT use latitude and longitude?

The sky. Astronomers use right ascension and declination as coordinates for locating stars, rather than latitude and longitude.

What is the principle of ballistic galvanometer?

when current passes through a coil of b.g then it rotates in a magnetic field and measures the quantity of charge rather than current

Do astronomers sleep during the day?

If they have been observing at night, yes - rather like shift workers. However most astronomers no longer observe directly but use cameras that are much more sensitive than the human eye to obtain their telescope data. This allows telescopes to be automated and the data save so that astronomers can analyse it during the day without having to visit the telescope. These astronomers work normal hours and only a few are needed to man the telescopes (a task which may also be done remotely).

How does the drilling machine operates?

A motor rotates a shaft that carries a drill. -A much better explanation is available if you specify WHICH 'drilling machine' -rather than such a broad definition.

What is an Orbital Sander?

An 'orbital sander' is one in which the motor rotates the sanding plate rather than imposing a back and forth movement. - This is the commonest and mildest wood sander.
