The tropic level of an organism defines where it exists within the food chain. For example: level one would be items like plants and vegetation and level five would be where carnivores and omnivores exist.

Because trophic levels are the bus of ecosytems. They explain why the higher up the food chain you go the more animals that creature has to eat of the level below it. If trophic levels changed then animals might become overpopulated in the ecosystem because the animal above them doesn't need to eat them as much and the animal itself might not have to eat as much of the animal below it and so be able to survive in abundance. Other animals might be eaten too much and driven into extinction because they are needed for eating too much by the animal above them.

What can you conclude about a ecosystem with many trophic levels?

it is a stable ecosystem

How many trophic levels a rain forest ecosystem can support?

A rain forest ecosystem can support 3-4 trophic levels.

What is energy that is lost at each trophic level of an ecosystem is replenished?

Energy that is lost at each trophic level of an ecosystem is replenished by the producers. The producers get it from the sun.

What is the new trophic model?

Well the trophic model is like the pyramid (Food Chain). But the difference is that trophic model's change every time you go to a different ecosystem.(Ecosystem Definition - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ecosystem)Pristine Ecosystems have a wine shaped trophic model and Near - Pristine Ecosystems have a upside down wine shaped trophic model. Human affected ecosystems have a triangle trophic model.

What group of organisms the second trophic level of an ecosystem?

The group of organisms that occupy the second trophic level of an ecosystem is the herbivores. The herbivores eat the plants in the first trophic level and are then called primary consumers. -Gallo :)

What are organisms in the lowest trophic level of an ecosystem?

Plants are in the lowest trophic level of an ecosystem. Their level is the lowest because the needs of plants are the least complex compared to the other organisms present in an ecosystem.

A biologist studies an ecosystem and finds that it has very few trophic levels What can you conclude about this ecosystem?

it is not a stable ecosystem

What is a long-term effect of the increased primary productivity of a terrestrial ecosystem?

it can be A)The ecosystem will not be able to support as many tertiary consumers. B)It will decrease the amount of energy transferred to higher trophic levels. C)The ecosystem will be able to support more organisms at higher trophic levels.Eliminate D)The ecosystem will become stagnant due to excess producers and organisms in higher trophic levels will die out.

What moves through organisms at each trophic level of an ecosystem?
