Why do guys lead girls on what is the purpose of this?

Because its the only way they can get ass. Guys will seem interested in you until they get what they want. unless you find a true gentlemen, but then they'res a chance they're one of those emotionally attached guys that are extremely posessive. i guess us women can never win :[

Girls Lead guys on either because they secretly like you and are trying to get your attention or they are just to shy to admit that they dont want to do anything with you but toy with you that is called a tease and most guys hate them. Girls like to lead guys on because they want to feel the attention and they enjoy the feeling of being the center of attention.(personal experiences)

Most of the time a guy leads a girl on because at some point in time, he really liked someone, but he was considered too weird and he was rejected. A lot of times, this is compounded by the girl he liked going with someone whom he perceives as better than him because the girl is with the other guy and not him. So he decides that it is better to not get attached to someone and have his heart ripped out by a girl who will think that someone else is better than him, and instead decides to play the field. He leads girls on because the real him was considered too weird, so he becomes hypocritical by creating a false "him" to lead girls on. It's not necessarily the true him, but the him that he becomes to fit in a little better. You can only be rejected so many times before you decide to change your approach.
