because helium , neon n argon have a completely filled outer shell n thus require no

extra electrons. this is also the reason why they were discovered so late.

Why do helium neon argon have a 0 valency?

Noble gases such as helium, neon, argon etc have completely filled valence orbitals, and hence have sable electronic configuration. They do not form bond with other elements. In other words, they are chemically inert and have zero valency.

What is the valency of helium be?

helium's valency is zero as id does not combine with other elements

What is the valency of argon?

the valency of argon is zero(0) because it is a noble gas i.e it does not react to any other element

Why does neon have zero valency?

The outer (valance) ring is full.

Which element is in the same period as helium?

Helium belongs to the 18th group which is known as noble gases/rare gases/zero group elements/inert gases. The other member areNeon(Ne)Argon(Ar)Krypton(Kr)Xenon(Xe)Radon(Rn)There is a vacant space at 118 i.e.marked as Un-Un Octium (Uuo) in the periodic table. If any element occurs that place, then it will be a rare gas.

What is the valence configuration of argon?

Argon, being one of the noble gases, has a completely filled outer electron shell and thus has zero valency.

What is the valence electron configuration of argon?

Argon, being one of the noble gases, has a completely filled outer electron shell and thus has zero valency.

What is known as the burning hell?

Discovery of the Noble Gases In 1895 Lord Rayleighreported the discovery of a new gaseous element named argon which proved to be chemically inert. This element did not fit any of the known periodic groups. In 1898, William Ramsey suggested that argon be placed into the periodic table between chlorine and potassium in a family with helium, despite the fact that argon's atomic weight was greater than that of potassium. This group was termed the "zero" group due to the zero valency of the elements. Ramsey accurately predicted the future discovery and properties neon.

Valency of neon?

Valency is zero, being a noble gas, does not react because of that fact.

What family do helium and argon belong to?

Noble gases. Also known as Group Zero and inert gases.

When helium's electrons in the outer most shell is two why its valency is 0?

Valency is not the no. of electrons in the outermost shell. It is the no. of electrons an atom has to lose or gain or share to achieve the electronic configuration of nearest noble gas and bcome stable. However, Helium has only K-shell which is complete. Hence it is stable and a noble gas. Therefore, its valency is zero.

Why you take the valency of helium 0?

Noble gases have electronegativity values of zero because they have completed the fulfillment of their orbitals and are no longer looking to bond with anymore electrons. There are exceptions with Krypton, Xenon, and Radon though.
