Best Answer

Land and sea breezes occur because of the different heating rates of land and sea.

A sea breeze or onshore breeze is a gentle wind blowing from sea toward land. They develop when the land heats up and the air above the land rises, air then moves from the sea towards the land.

A land breeze or offshore breeze, blowing from land to sea, is the reverse effect, caused when land cools more quickly than water in the evening.
