Because of a chance that it is a new species of primate yet to be discovered,they think they saw or did see one or because they grew up with stories of it in his/her family. I myself am a strong believer in the teti and bigfoot because of my grandma telling me stories about it.

Many people have faked things on the yeti; like getting a costume and dressing up as one or killing a bear or other animal that looks like the yeti and cutting it apart and saying they killed a yeti.
