The Scripture gives us the simple answer as to why people break God's Law:

Romans 8:7 New King James Version (NKJV)

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

God gave mankind the 10 Commandments - notice not the 10 Suggestions - so that we may all Him to guide us through this life and develop God-like character.

The 1st four Commands teach us how to Love God.

The last 6 Commands teach us how to love mankind.

This is how Jesus summed up the Law of God - into these 2 groups of Love. Further answer Original sin. The first Adam was the representative of all mankind. When he broke the law of God all whom he stood for were counted as guilty, which results in alienation from God. To break one law is to break all law, as the law of God is interwoven with itself, so that adultery goes further than the physical act. To worship a false god is adultery, whilst taking away, stealing that which belongs to God, whilst dishonouring God as the Father of mankind. So on and so forth.

To the person who claims that Jesus Christ broke the Sabbath observance. This is exactly what His enemies claimed. However, Jesus Christ did not break this commandment. It was the ignorance of the Jews that claimed He did, they ritualistically believing that the Sabbath should be observed after a worshipful manner, not that the Sabbath was subject to man, not man subject to the Sabbath. The children of the devil will always have matters the wrong way round because they are opposed to what is right, and in doing so condemn Jesus Christ.

It is easy to see why people break at least some of the Ten Commandments.

The first three commandments are essentially different ways of saying to worship no other god. But many people today no longer believe that God really exists, while a large proportion of the world's population follows other religions with their own gods and their own commandments. For them, the first three commandments are actually irrelevant.

The fourth commandment is to do no work on the Sabbath, but The Bible says that even Jesus broke this mommandment.

The fifth commandment is to honour your father and your mother, a useful social rule usually observed out of filial love rather than by bringing to mind a commandment.

The seventh commandment,do not commit adultery, was actually intended to protect the property rights of a man in Jewish society. In Old Testament times it was adultery for a man to have sex with the wife of another Jew, but not with a single woman, widow or prostitute, even if he himself was married.

The ninth commandment, do not bear false witness against your neighbour, would have originally been intended for some situations now seen as perjury, but is also commonly seen as a commandment against telling lies.

The tenth commandment commandment, do not covet that which belongs to your neighbour, including his wife and slaves, is widely seen as an anachronism. Wives are no longer thought of as property in Western society, and slaves are no longer permitted.

It could be said that the sixth and eighth commandments are the most important of the Ten Commandments, are they are widely honoured: do not kill and do not steal.

God gave us free will to obey him or to transgress (Deuteronomy 30:15-20). That applies to all of his commandments.

Other information:

1) "I am the Lord your God..." has shaped the Western beliefs about God. Pantheism and polytheism, which were excuses for immorality, are out.
2) The 7-day week, including a day of rest for everyone, is thanks to the Fourth Commandment.
3) Without the Fifth Commandment, society might still permit abandoning our aged parents to die.

4) Without the Sixth Commandment, we might still be killing our own children, as was done in Classical European nations until Judaism and its daughter-religions put a stop to it. The above are just a few examples.

What is the difference between the bible and the ten commandments?

The Bible is a religious text that encompasses various stories, teachings, and beliefs of Christianity, while the Ten Commandments are a set of ethical and moral guidelines given by God to Moses in the Bible, specifically in the book of Exodus. The Bible is a more comprehensive collection of scriptures, while the Ten Commandments are a specific set of laws within the Bible.
