People don't develop Autism after birth, Autism is a neurological difference so it is a result of brain development while still developing in the womb. It's believed that Autism starts during the second trimester of pregnancy. A person is born Autistic.

∙ 13y agoThere can be several reasons. There is not supposed to be any globally defined reason, since it can vary from person to person. I may have autism myself, but disclosing information on why I have it irrelevant, as there are relatively few people who understand hallucinogenic behaviour.

∙ 8y agoA person does not get autism, they are born autistic. Autism is a neurological difference that is determined by our genes, we become autistic as we develop within the womb. There is no 'why', just like there is no 'why is someone born with brown eyes', it's simply due to genetics.

∙ 8y agoPeople are born Autistic for the same reason they're born neurotypical, they're born Caucasian or Chinese, they're born with blond hair or brown hair, they're born with blue eyes or brown eyes, etc. it's normal variation in human beings. Autism is genetic so often either parents are Autistic too or they have genetic mutations in both parents that result in an Autistic child.
Contrary to another answer - Autism is not an 'epidemic'.
Autistic people are not a disease, to refer to Autism as an epidemic is offensive and prejudice.
