Due to the fertile soil and opportunities fro tourism. Both of which can bring in jobs and money for the local people. The volcanic ash is rich in minerals that can help vines and olives grow if properly farmed and reared.
It's warm? You probably mean "on" Mt. Etna. Since Mt. Etna is an active volcano, living on it is not wise, however some reasons why people live there might include: 1. They've always lived there - it's "home" 2. They own land there (similar to above) 3. Land is cheap there(?) 4. They are desperate. 5. The soil has good characteristics for growing wine, for example (hypothetical, I have not researched this)
there is rich soil for farming because of the lava cooling. Mount Etna is also a main tourist attraction. Thousands of people visit Mount Etna each year. Mount Etna's rich soil was formed by it' magma minerals combining with the perfect climate of the Mediterranean to provide great growing conditions
One reason is that the rich volcanic soils and good weather make it an ideal place for farming.
Ash from eruptions turn to very fertile soils a few years after the eruption, so land around etna is ideal for growing crops like rice!
fertile land from ash-covering, for growing crops. made a tourist attraction and made town wealthier. that's all i know ATM. im currently doing homework on it and stuck after that.
Ash from the erruptions is really good to use to grow crops such as rice.

No. Stromboli is associated with a subduction zone.
People sometimes live there so some people want to die there too. People live on Mt Stromboli, 'near' would be the next island. The population of Stromboli farm, fish and support the bristling tourist industry which offers some exciting and often extreme sporting opportunities. Even the local ferry port is called Scari !
