The human body has two kidneys that act as filtering agents of the bloodstream. When there is kidney failure, there is no filtering in the bloodstream and some of the toxins and/or chemicals are again flowing through the body. Dialysis is the filtering of the blood in place of the kidneys to remove those toxins.

When your kidneys are healthy, they clean your blood. They also make hormones that keep your bones strong and your blood healthy. When your kidneys fail, you need treatment to replace the work your kidneys used to do. Unless you have a kidney transplant, you will need a treatment called dialysis.

There are two main types of dialysis: hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Both types filter your blood to rid your body of harmful wastes, extra salt and water. Hemodialysis does that with a machine. Peritoneal dialysis uses the lining of your abdomen, called the peritoneal membrane, to filter your blood. Each type has both risks and benefits. They also require that you follow a special diet.

when your kidney function is inhibited to a point where a dialysis machine is used, into which all blood from your body is channeled and cleaned before reentering th body. an alternative is a pig's liver.

Um, I'm not quite sure about principle, but I know that the purpose is to clean the urine out of your blood stream, as it is deadly.

Sorry for an incomplete answer, but I hope that helps a little, at least!

A dialysis machine is used to treat people with kidney disease. The machine filters the patient's blood to remove any excess water and waste products. It basically performs the usual work of the kidneys.

When the kidneys are not working well enough to clean toxins in your blood stream, they have to be cleaned by another method or the patient will die. So people in kidney failure are offered dialysis which acts as an artificial kidney and cleans the bloodstream. Kidney failure may be acute and temporary for reasons such as surgical shock, or it may be chronic and the person would have to be dialysed several times a week until a kidney transplant can be done. Dialysis usually takes about 8 hours.

The Kidney Dialysis replaces some of the functions of the kidney. It replace some of these functions through diffusion( waste removal) and ultrafiltration( fluid removal).
