Another common reason that people become refugees is to get away from war and the damage it is doing to their country, both physically and emotionally. Of course, there are infinitely many reasons that a person might have to resort to becoming a refugee, but these are just some of the common ones.
People become refugees when they are forced out of thier country by war.
These people run away from their own country due to race, nationality, religion, danger of war, harassment and/or torture and are in hopes of entering the country illegally hoping to seek protection as a refugee.
Because they have no choice, but to leave because they dislike what they live in

It is not an issue of cost. People become refugees through circumstances. You could be living in a war zone and have your home completely destroyed and have to try to leave the country. You might have to do so on foot, grabbing whatever possessions you can take with you. It does not cost you money to become a refugee, but there can be costs in other ways, in the sense that your life is destroyed. One way it might cost you money would be if you paid someone to help get you out of the country.
To become a refugee, a person must be outside their home country and unable or unwilling to return due to well-founded fear of persecution based on race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion. They can apply for refugee status through the United Nations or through the asylum process in a country that is a signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention.
