SOME Electromagnet like permanent magnets have two poles(north/south). Likewise the rules for SOME Electromagnets are the same as those of a permanent magnet(same poles repel, different poles attract).

What do electromagnets attract?

Unlike normal magnets, electromagnets attract just someof the alloys that contain iron, such as steel and iron, but not all of them. Electromagnets do not attract aluminium, copper, titanium, brass, bronze, tin, nickel, platinum, gold, silver, lead or pewter.Contrary to some opinions, electromagnets cannot attract cardboard.See also the related question.

What are electromagnets used to record information on?

Electromagnets...electromagnets are magnets attract, or pull, some kinds of metal objects. Stronger magnets exert a greater pull on the objects they attract. Sometimes it would be useful if you could turn off a magnet when you did not want it to attract objects. That is what an electromagnet can do. Some electromagnets .in power plants and factories electromagnets are very large. You can make a small, simple electromagnet in school or at home.

Why like charges repel and unlike charges attract each other?

The reason why some charges repel while unlike charges attract comes down to polarity. According to Newton, with every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The reason comes down the the amount of protons and electrons in each atom. Equal amounts produce a repelling action where as charges with unequal protons and elections will cause the atoms to attract.

What is the hypothesis of magnets?

They have North and South poles, and can attract different things, such as iron, paper clips, other magnets, and some metal. It can also repel other magnets.

Do magnets have more force when they repel or attract?

The repel force is mostly a little stronger than the attraction. I have succeeded of doing this and the answer I found is repel force. (Some stupid people says that they have equal force but they're wrong)

Why do some magnets bounce back when you try to put them together?

A magnet has two poles, the north and the south. Opposite poles attract, meaning that a north pole will attract a south pole. Same poles repel; a north pole repels another north pole and a south pole repels another south pole. If two magnets attract each other, that pulls them together, and if they repel each other, that pushes them apart. That is the phenomenon that you observed, of magnets bouncing back when you try to put them together.
