The reason for that is the state of mind the dreamer is in. The best state to dream is to be calm and happy, rather than angry, thus, when being in a better state of mind, your sould is able to grab more material of dreams from the parent world, making a dream more vivid

Whether or not one remembers one's dreams seems to be related to whether or not one sleeps soundly. Dreams occur during certain stages of sleep; if one wakes up while in the middle of a dream, one is more likely to remember it.
