It is just a funnier way of saying some one farted. It also refers to some one cutting stinky cheese, cause the cheese smells and farts smell.

∙ 14y agoI'm guessing it's because cheese can have a very pungent odor, and when you cut it, it's even more so, so when you "cut the cheese" you are causing a strong odor to be released.
