The trees perform the process of photosynthesis and produce food for itself and when tree grows the metabolism increases and so meet the extra needs it has to grow the leaves by which it can meet its requirement . Leaves are very important feature of thr trees.

∙ 12y agoflowers need leaves to collect the energy that is used to create the "food" that plants obtain during photosynthesis. And leaves make nutrient for flowers to grow. If flowers don't have leaves, they will die.

∙ 11y agoEverything that happens in the environment relies on energy. In seasonal climates (most of the U.S.) there are longer, warmer days in the summer when trees grow their most. In the winter, the rate of growth would be much slower, because photosynthesis depends on both temperature and sunlight (among other factors). Therefore, it costs more energy to keep leaves in the winter than it does to shed them and become dormant until the next growing season.
The farther north you go, coniferous forests (evergreens) are more common. This is because the growing season is so short, and temperatures are generally lower year round. It would take too much energy to produce new leaves every year, so rather than shedding their photosynthetic parts, conifers are adapted to conserve and grow at very slow rates.
