Why does a candle flame extinguish after blowing air on it?

Air exhaled contains a higher concentration of carbon dioxide, which can act as a fire extinguisher. OR The fast moving air causes a reduction in the heat available to the candle flame, thus extinguishing it. Heat is one of the 3 essential components of the fire triangle, the other 2 being fuel and oxygen. When you "blow out" a candle flame, you are rapidly reducing the temperature of the wick and cooling the burning material to below the ignition point.

Where does a wick come from from a candle?

A candle wick is a thin string down the centre of the candle.

Why do candles go out when you put a beaker over it?

As we know that for an object or substance to burn, its by means of carbon. Fire is very complex and needs oxygen for it to burn so by putting a beaker over a candle you are actually cutting the consumption of oxygen by fire, which will stop the fire from burning. THAT ANSWER IS FALSE. Because the candle is under a beaker and most beakers have lips the beaker is not fully cut off from oxygen so there is still oxygen. The candle does go out because of the carbon dioxide that is in the beaker
