Oil companies and private firms employ geologists to locate new oil reserves. Geologists examine terrain and surface rocks in satellite images, and also examine the land in person to determine soil and rock types that are indicative of possible oil deposits. Seismic surveys of these promising areas can then confirm if there are oil 'traps,' where the oil is sandwiched between layers of impermeable rock.
Oil companies drill for oil so they can find oil and extract it from the ground. In doing so, they get a product they can sell to make money.
To find oil, in order tomake petrol (gasoline), heating oil, lubricants, etc.
we drill oil because we use in foods for example: crisp
Simply because oil-bearing rock was formed millions of years ago, and is buried deep in the Earth's crust, due to being covered by successive layers of sediment.
They rely on geologic information derived from surveys that may include drilling records, core samples, seismographic readings, and other data.

Platinum was originally extracted using pneumatic drills and explosives. However, new mechanical and hybrid platinum mining methods are becoming more popular. One method consists of drilling, either with pneumatic drills or newer specialized drilling equipment, and then cleaning the ore from the mine using low-profile vehicles called LHD (load-haul-dump) machines.
In the US, unless land is being cleared for construction or agriculture, lumber companies have been required for many years to either leave "seed trees" to promote growth of new trees, or to replant the land with seedling trees. That is where you will get the new generation of trees.

In the mining industry most companies cannot afford the cost of maintaining the drilling equipment nor infrastructure required to do inhouse exploration. Self-operated exploration drilling requires the company to have and H/R staff which can higher high caliber people and then attach them to the corporate employment package for the long term. Most self-operated exploration drilling machines cost 2 times as much as contract drilling companies that can distribute the costs and employment agreements over multiple footage projects and locations. Contract Drilling companies stay abreast of new developments in the industry and maintain records to track costs thus arriving at the most economical footage results available for the formations being drilled. (no hidden cost) Self-operate exploration drilling have costs that are ignored and/or written off in other areas of the corporate structure. ie Repairs, fuel, moves, administration. Pro of Self-operated exploration drilling are that the company attains the information on the ore bodies in a more timely manner to make mining development decisions on and operating mine. Self-operated exploration drilling and contract drilling is similar to large mining company keeping staff to do raw exploration- they don't. The large mining companies invest in the junior exploration companies to find new ore bodies which allows them to have experience people looking for ore bodies and managing them selves vs. maintaining a large costly exploration staff. The juniors use contractors because they cannot afford the large capitalization for the drilling equipment and tooling to do small exploration projects to see if they have and ore body. If the junior finds and ore body the large mining company will fund the drilling project for a percentage of the property or will buy out the juniors stock to own the property. The economics of the property will dictated the pros and cons of in-house drilling or contract drilling. It may come down to the risk involved in the ore body involved.

It depends on what exactly you are trying to do. The depth you want to drill to; the depth of water you are working in; what type of media you are trying to drill through; the location of the job. There are many types of rig availible; when you know what you want to then you would contact one of the (many) drilling companies who would explain the best options for you.

I do not think there is an actual correspondence school for Oil Rigs. Or at least I have never heard of one. There are, however, some online resources and correspondence courses for certain aspects of the drilling operation such as Blow Out Prevention, diesel mechanics, and electrical training since most of the new rigs are essentially electrical with power generated with diesel motors. There are, however, several companies that are now trying to provide training for working on drilling rigs. Nabor's Drilling is one example, with at least one school in Casper Wyoming.
At most paintball fields and online. It is a new gun and will be easy to find.
Offshore drilling rigs can reach deep oil reservoirs that lie below the sea floor. Initially, our oil came from discoveries on land, however in search of new oil fields, it was necessary to drill wells offshore. Oil companies have made very large oil discoveries in deep water regions in the Gulf of Mexico. See related link.
Because there are underwater volcanoes and if you were to strike one while drilling it would be bad for you and there probably would be a new island.
