Does Adderall give headaches

Altough symptom is common side effect: Contact phycisian.

In case of Adderall this usually coincides with agitation, restlessness, and diziness.

Take perscribed dosage. Report use of any other drug (of the counter as well).

Definitely! sounds like the beginnings of a migraine or tension headache. Due to the combination of amphetamine salts, adderall has diuretic tendencies that can cause severe dehydration (similar to extreme caffeine overdose). You may need to discuss your dosage with your doctor, as many of adderall's negative side affects can be a sign of overstimulation. Make sure to push the water ( twice what you would normally consume), even if you don't feel thirsty, taking adderall will dehydrate you and water can often make these symptoms more manageable. However, in the meantime, take two excedrine migraine (generic works just as well!) with a large glass of cold water. Also, I've found focusing on taking slow deep breathes and at least resting (even if you can't sleep) can help tremendously! (I'm not a doctor, I've just been taking adderall forever) PLEASE BE SURE TO READ YOUR PRESCRIPTION INSERT. FOR SOME REASON IF YOU CONSUME VITAMINS D AND B ( I THINK) IT INTERFERS WITH THE ADDERAL AND THEREFORE NOT AS EFFECTIVE. SO BE SAFE TILL YOU KNOW FOR SURE AND DRINK NO FRUIT JUICES.

Headaches can be a side effect of Adderall, usually due to mild dehydration. There are also cases of muscle cramping as well.

Other than that, I am not aware of any physical pain that it can cause.

there are too many things to even list. But the easiest answer would be dehydration which is fairly common while on Adderall. Similarly it could be malnutrition being that adderall is a notorious appetite suppressant. When you starve you get headaches, but because you don't feel hungry you may think its something else. You could have taken too much and its overstimulated your brain causing pain. On top of these things and many others its listed as a common side effect. So if you've ruled out all but the latter, thankfully ibuprofen works fairly well and if dosed properly the reaction they DO have is very minimal. I only mention this small possible reaction because when I have a bad headache, sometimes I say "why not one more its only ibuprofen" but while on Adderall it can cause serious problems.

Developing cluster headaches as a direct result of taking Adderall is highly unlikely.

However, it is likely that Adderall can aggravate pre-existing cluster headaches for certain individuals due to the direct effect this drug has on the hypothalmus.

Adderall is a combination of Dextroamphetamine & Amphetamine. Amphetamines cause the release of certain chemicals primarily norepinephrine and dopamine into the system which can upset the sensitive balance of certain feedback mechanisms in the brain. It is well known that stress can trigger cluster headache attacks and amphetamines can trigger stress related chemicals in your body to elevate quickly. Once these feedback mechanisms are out of balance, you can run a higher risk of developing a cluster headache attack.

If your prescription Adderall is causing cluster headache attacks, consult your doctor or neurologist and see if you can find a different prescription.
