Root canals are not needed because of braces. It is just a coincidence if you need a root canal after you have had braces. Most likely what happened is that your home care was not the best while you had braces on so you developed a cavity. If the cavity is not treated it continues to get worse. Once the cavity gets close to the nerve of the tooth a root canal will have to be performed and the tooth will need a crown on it.

I just had a painless root canal performed by my local Dental professional. As he explained the procedure, the infected nerve tissue is removed by drilling down through or up through the affected tooth as the case may be until all of the infected nerve tissue is removed. Then the hole created by drilling is filled in steps with a medicated permanent filling material . this is done in steps as the filling material must be activated to harden utilizing a special ultraviolet light and only a portion of the filling material can be hardened at a time. The whole process took approx 45 minutes. In my case the reason it was painless is because the root was completely dead. While I did experience moderate discomfort prior to the procedure due to the infection once complete the pain was gone. As he explained further some people have the process done before the nerve is completely dead and this is what causes the discomfort. local anesthetics are only partially effective when having this procedure performed thus the cause of pain. One more point of information. This whole process is completed without removing the crown. The process begins by simply drilling through the crown and into the remaining stub of the tooth

When the tooth pulp (the living part of the tooth) becomes infected, it can cause the loss of the tooth. In a root canal, the damaged pulp is removed and replaced with a type of rubbery filling. With this done, the tooth can no longer replace calcium in the enamel, so in many cases a crown (cap) is required before the tooth wears down or breaks.

Can you get dry socket from a root canal?

No. By definition, a 'dry socket' is a painful condition that occurs following a tooth extraction, not a root canal. That is not to say that you cannot have pain following a root canal. You can, particularly if the tooth was acutely infected at the time of the root canal, or if the root canal is incomplete. You should consult with the dentist who performed the procedure and follow his/her recommendations.

I have a root canal but want to take out the root canal?

Im not sure of the question but sounds like the doctor already removed the inerts of the tooth and placed a filling into the root. That is what a root canal therapy is. If you want to remove the root canal filling material and replace it with a more biocompatible material there are dentist that do that.
