The common practice of using resources such as fossil fuels started back in the Industrial Revolution which progressed all the way to current day. Not only is the practice of using non-eco friendly resources prevalent, it is also cheaper and more convenient to manufacture. So really, when you're buying a new car or new clothes, you rarely think about what environmental harm was outputted to produce your item because your main concern has been fulfilled which is price.

Most importantly, adopt the pets because you want to help them, but not for their appearance, whether they are cute or not.
