It really depends on what is wrong with it.

If it is sore try not to lift heavy objects or strain your back, let it heal.

If it is hurting really bad, you might have pulled something.

If it is your actual back you might need to go see a chiropractor or a doctor for pain relievers and/or X-Rays.

That's all i can really think of. Maybe even a hot shower to loosen your muscles.

hope that helped :)

To permanently get rid of shoulder pain you must first determine what is the cause of pain. Usually the underlying reason is repetitive use of a muscle group without working the antagonist muscles equally. Shoulder pain is commonly caused by repetitive overhead pressing movements such as lifting. In that case doing dips will almost certainly work the opposing muscles in your shoulders and put them back in balance ending pain. As a general rule, if you have muscle pain find out what the antagonist muscles are and work them equally. You should notice a measurable reduction in pain in the subsequent days just after one or two workouts. Do workouts in slow controlled proper form and work up reps over time. Always warm up first. Do not do more than 70% of your maximum reps output at first to avoid further injury like a muscle or tendon strain or sprain. If this does not get rid of your shoulder pain then you may have a more severe problem like a pre-existing sprain, strain or fracture. In that case you should seek help from a professional sports medicine specialist. I do not recommend going to a general practitioner if a sports medicine doctor or specialist is available first since they will have far greater experience dealing with specific injuries. As for the heat pack advice given above, it may work to temporarily relieve pain, however, for rehabilitation the RICE method is generally the best. Rest, Ice, Compression and Exercise. Ice as opposed to heat will reduce swelling and promote faster healing.

Pack the injury with ice for 15 to 20 minutes each hour for the first 1 to 2 days. Put the ice in a plastic bag and place a towel between the bag of ice and your skin.

after the first 2 days apply heat to the shoulder by using warm damp towels

If you are wearing a sling, keep it on all the time. If you take the sling off to dress or bathe, be careful to avoid lifting or moving the arm.

If you are wearing a special splint, keep it on until your doctor says you can remove it or until your follow-up visit. If your fingers get numb or tingly, you may need to loosen the splint. If you don't know how, ask your doctor for instructions.

The first thing one can do is to try pain relievers. Heat pads are also proven to be very effective. One can also resort to exercising it slowly and gently.

What would cause shoulder pain?

It really depends on what you do. If you were in an accident, you could have what I had, which is a torn labrum. The labrum is a cartilaginous cup that helps hold your joint in place and allows for extended movement. When this is torn, it can be very painful to move your arm in many ways, and it may be uncomfortable to have your arm dangling down at your side, which is where a sling comes in handy. Talk to your doctor about the next step in deciding what is wrong. You could have done a dozen other things, but my expertise is in this one possibility. Try to get a referral to an orthopedic surgeon if your physician does not have the answer. Physical therapy is another great option. Where in the shoulder does ectopic pain occur?

I'm no doctor, but I can describe to you what I experienced. At the height of my pain during my ectopic pregnancy, I had pains in my abdomen so overwhelming that I could do nothing but hunch over and wobble from place to place - laying down didn't even help. I was sure that this was just a horrible case of menstrual cramps, but then I started to realize an odd pain in my shoulder. It was intensified when I breathed in, like when my lungs expanded...it was pinpointed kind of at the tip of my shoulder. Hard to explain...kind of underneath my clavicle, nearer to the outside of my shoulder. If that makes any sense at all.Nonetheless, if you have any reason whatsoever to suspect that you may have an ectopic pregnancy - especially with this questioning about shoulder pain - go straight to the doctor! This is a very serious condition, definitely not one you sit around and wait for the internet to answer for you!
