Gil Grissom was played by William Petersen.
Grissom and Sara did indeed get married but their wedding was not shown on the show. Grissom originally proposed to Sara in season eight episode four titled "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp". When Grissom proposed to Sara she quickly said yes, but there was no ring or getting down on one knee. It was how Grissom would be expected to purpose on a rooftop where they were studying bees. Both Sara and Grissom were dressed in protective gear from head to toe and he popped the question very casually. Once Sara and Grissom were engaged, they kept it a secret for awhile; until Sara left the show. Sara Sidle, played by Jorga Fox, originally left the show in season eight only three episodes after Grissom proposed in episode seven "Goodbye and Good-luck". After Sara left, Grissom seemed to be extremely upset. When William Peterson left CSI the writers inferred he was moving to be with Sara. The way viewers know that Sara and Gil got married is through Sara's dialoge. Jorja Fox has recently come back to CSI as a guest star in season ten. Sara has talked about her wedding and her honeymoon to multiple members of the team and has been asked multiple times about how she and Gil are making their relationship work. All in all Sara and Grissom had been a romance waiting to happen.
No, he appears in the original CSI, which is based in Las Vegas.
Grissom (William Petersen) was supposed to be back for Catherine Willows' last episode as a regular in season 12, but producers decided against it. They didn't want it to overshadow her farewell.
