The history of this question goes to 1910, however, lots of countries drew and had Santa in various colors of clothing. Coca Cola drew Santa in red and white (because Coca Cola's Colors are red and white) on their cans for the first time. then people decided to go with red and white for Santa's clothes, and its been like that ever since.
i think its cuz candycanes (Christmas candy) , red & white mints (Christmas candy), and most candys from the holidays are red & white, so big ol' Santy Claws decided 2 go with red & white. (true story, no lies)..........
