Ashfur seems to have directed his hate to Squirrelflight. It can be assumed he believes that Squirrelflight, opting to choose Brambleclaw over Ashfur, was the one who was At Fault. Maybe he thought Brambleclaw was an innocent bystander or something. If he did feel any hatred toward him, it's possible he simply chose to hate Squirrelflight instead, because he still loves her. Love hate situation.

Squirrelflight ended her relationship with Ashfur because she realized that they were not meant to be together as life mates. Additionally, Squirrelflight's heart belonged to someone else - Brambleclaw.

∙ 12y agoSquirrelflight always loved Brambleclaw more but they got into a fight and got angry at each other so she got closer to Ashfur but after the badger attack Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight forgave each other so that is why she dumped Ashfur. Oh and if Ashfur was a human he would be considered a lunatic because he loved Squirrelflight so much he wanted to hurt her the way he was hurt so he tried to hurt Hollyleaf, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze

∙ 12y agoSquirrelpelt wanted to be mates with Brambleclaw instead of Ashfur after she and Brambleclaw had stopped arguing. While they were arguing, Squirrelpelt would sit next to Ashfur for ThunderClan meetings, share tongues with him, share fresh-kill with him, etc. Ashfur loves Squirrelpelt, but she is Brambleclaw's mate, now.
Squirrelpelt's and Brambleclaw's kits are Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze. Lionblaze was mentored by Ashfur.
