Why does a boy's voice get deeper?

During puberty the male voices deepens, because the larynx (voice box) grows larger and thicker, causing the vibrations caused by speaking to become lower. And it is perfectly normal.




I am 13 years old and my voice is starting to get lower.

Because as he gets older his vocal cords get longer so the vocals are spread more apart so it cannot have as hi velocity as it could when they were together.

It is caused by the hormone testosterone which increases in boys as they go though puberty. Girls have much less testosterone, so their voices do not deepen as much

As boys grow through Puberty the voicebox stretches causing the voice to change in pitch until it reaches a final tone which usually is deeper.
