In a radiator, the fluids get really hot, when things get hot they expand and then they have to go somewhere, the fluid goes into an overflow.
you don't repair a radiator overflow jug as they are usually plastic. Buy a new or used one from a sslvage yard.
in overflow jug
You put it in the overflow jug.
Replace radiator ASAP. And flush tranny fluid.
One situation that the overflow jug would cause an overheat condition would be if the hose and/or connectors were plugged up or blocked. NOTE: before disconnecting anything to do with the radiator, ensure the engine is COOL! The cooling system operates under significant pressure.
You fill it from the overflow jug located on the passenger side of the engine compartment
not to bad to change. Drain radiator, remove both radiator hoses, overflow jug disconnect cooling fan canon plug. leave fan on radiator. I think there is 4 bolts that hold radiator in, remove and remove radiator.
When you drive the overflow is pressurized when the engine heats up. As it cools down, the engine will "drink" the anti-freeze out of the overflow reservoir. It is most likely making a sound like when you turn a milk jug upside down and let it drain? Chug, chug,...etc. A vacuum occurs in the overflow reservoir when the anti-freeze is taken back into the system and you are hearing the equalizing of pressures...like a milk jug.
The engine coolant reservoir or the overflow bottle.
The radiator cap is actually on the plastic overflow bottle located on the passenger side of the firewall. It is pressurized while it is hot, so, use extreme caution there. Your best bet is simply to let it cool before removing the cap. *On a side note* If you are adding a radiator or cooling system sealant, Do not add it to the overflow jug, instead, remove the upper radiator hose (drain out a bit to ensure there is room in the system for what you are adding) and add your sealant there, re-attach, and then start the engine. I hope this has helped, good luck!!
have the radiator cap pressure tested
if you are looking under the hood, the box will be to your left, near the radiator overflow "jug"...... it lists the names on the side of the fuse box. hope that helped
