Why do chinchillas bark My male 8 year old chinchilla barks at night or when i am gone for a weekend?

Because he is nocternal. :)
Hey its also because he misses you or feels lonely o ill. I have my own and she barks when im gone and when she first moved in but i have also heard that when they have bad dreams they bark. someone told me that use it as a warming call for other chinchillas in the area to flee from danger. :] hope this helps
