Why does a computer suddenly slow down?
Lack of resources: CPU [cycles], RAM, Disk Space.
If a new program is installed [intentionally, or no] Or, if a new process is started [intentionally, or no] they will use up resources. And when one or more of the resources become critically low, the performance of your PC degrades quickly.
When you experience sudden computer slow downs, it's highly likely that your computer got infected. First of all scan your computer with up-to-date antivirus and antispyware software. If nothing is found and you are sure that there are no infections, try the following:
# Remove all the big files from your desktop
# If your hard disk is full get some external usb hard disk and use it to store large files, like movies, music and pictures
# Remove temporary files and other junk files # Defragment your hard drive # Scan your PC for registry errors
Slow makes ofcourse big ressources programs and startup programs... use TuneUp utilities and Auslogics Disk Defrag.
Many people encounter the following computer problems: take a long time to start up, load websites or run programs. Recently I find functional software can fix all these problems.
This happens when you're pushing to the limit of your processor, RAM etc. It happens very easily if you multi-task to much, meaning if you run too many programs at once. Or sometimes one single game can eat up a lot of resources especially the RAM and if it is minimized but of ended, it will surely slow down your computer. :)
I must disagree with David. I have been in the computer sales and service field for over 25 years and must say that I have found Avast to be one of the worst antivirus programs on the market, surpassed only by AVG in its ineptitude. The programs that I recommend and sell to my clients at this point is Kaspersky Antivirus. To answer your question directly, yes, Avast can slow down your machine as it…

I agree that it any torrent client can slow down the computer but it depends on a number of factors. First, how many torrents are you trying to download? Second, what type of CPU do you have in your machine? Third, where are you storing the downloaded files? Fourth, how much RAM do you have in your computer? Fifth, how long have you had the torrent client up and running for this session? In my…
It is hard to know for certain, but it could be a problem with the memory in your computer. If you don't have a lot, it will slow down the speed it loads applications like Excel and others that you would have on your computer. If Minecraft is not running, no it will not slow your computer down. If you have a low end or older computer then playing Minecraft may slow it down a little as it's a fairly hardware intensive game. Just give it as much ram as you can and turn the graphic details down until your happy with it. The Minecraft WiKi has a lot of information on managing the game.
