By doing so he increasing the time period in which the momentum of the ball is going to decrease due to this.according to Newton's second law of motion, magnitude of the force decreases
To reduce the relative velocity between ball and hand. Particularly important since gloves are not worn, as in Baseball.
Bacause of "IMPULSE" ie Force*time.
Here force=the weight of the ball /the force at which the ball comes to the cricketer's hand
Time=the time of contact of the cricket ball with the cricketr's hand.
If the time of contact increases the force applied by the ball on the cricketer's hand decreases. So he lowers his hand while catching a ball.

Beacause when a player knowingly has to chatch the ball it is best for him to be able to see when the ball comes therefore bein turned around, for example you cant just run straight then turn at a certain point because the person throghing isn't always going to able to waight as long so it is best to run backwards so you can see when to catch the ball:)
to soften the impact of a ball that can kill you if it hits you in the head
to make sure he doesn't drop the ball
a cricket player moves his hands backwards while bowling to pick up pace -hrishikesh parale
One possible reason is to reduce the impact on his hands due to the speed, force and hardness of the cricket ball.
to conserve the momentum of ball
It is so by moving hands back players can reduce angular momentum and they don't get heart

Use two hands when picking up the bowling ball from the return rack. Watch out for another ball being returned when picking up your ball.
